The How to Retire Healthy: Thoughts on Personal Finance book sets out to provide a simple roadmap to help you reinforce positive aspects of your current efforts, learn new behaviors, and generally incorporate healthy financial practices into your financial foundation. Divided into the decades of life, the book starts by talking about financial expectations versus reality, the psychology of money, and goals, before progressing step-by-step through each decade. Remember, personal finance isn’t hard, experts, lack of organization, and emotion just make it feel insurmountable.

Retirement coaching is a form of life coaching. These one-on-one sessions are tailored to the client and designed to assist them with improving the retirement-related life goals they identify. Coaching is not a quick fix or substitute for advice from licensed professionals in fields such as law, finance, medicine, nutrition, physical therapy, or mental health. My Retirement Doc coaches concentrate on information and inspiration to assist clients, but ultimately, the client is responsible for creating their own results.

My Retirement Doc has a screening process in place to ensure coaching is a good fit for client and coach. Ideal candidates have already read the How To Retire Healthy: Thoughts on Personal Finance book and completed an initial retirement plan and supporting documents before the first coaching session. Thus, these candidates have a clear idea of which specific retirement-related life goals need additional coaching. This process includes a questionnaire and several other steps before interested individuals are specially selected.
